Reporting A Student Absence

There are 3 ways to report a student absence. Regardless of which way you report, please include the following information:

• Your child’s name, grade, your child's homeroom teacher's name and your name
• Day or dates your child will be absent
• The reason your child will be absent. If your child is absent due to illness, please indicate whether your child has a temperature of over 100 degrees.

1) Call the Maplewood Middle School Absent Line at (973) 378-7660 and follow the prompts

2) Send an email on PowerSchool. Select- Forms - Attendance- Student Absence Notification.  

3) Email mmsasap@somsd.k12.nj.us 

Reporting a Student who will Arrive Late or requires Leaving Early

1) Call the attendance office at 973-378-7660 (prompt #1).

Your child should also email their teachers so they are aware they will be missing class.

OR

2) You may report an absence or early pickup to mmsasap@somsd.k12.nj.us.

Students should also check Canvas for work.
