Math Course Selection Letter 6-8 2024 (1).pdf

Please follow these instructions for choosing your courses for school year 24-25.

Log into PowerSchool via the parent portal (https://powerschool.somsd.k12.nj.us/public/)
on a computer and select Class Registration on the left-hand side.
Families can register online until Friday, May 1, 2024

  1. Read the directions carefully.

  2. Mandatory Classes will be scheduled for you (ELA, Science, Social Studies, Phys. Ed., Health and Lunch).

  3. Select your courses (math and electives) by clicking on the pencil in the upper right-hand corner of each section. If you make a mistake, simply uncheck the course that you want to delete. To confirm your choices, click “Okay” on the bottom right.

  4. Once you have selected a course, you will get a green check mark in that section. You must select a course in all of the sections that have required courses. If you have a red exclamation point (!), you have not selected enough (or too many) options in that section.

  5. You must hit submit when you are done.

  6. Please see the bottom of the document for course descriptions.

  7. If you receive an error message, READ the message and then make the corrections.

Reminders:

Remember to hit “Next” to see additional choices, as only 10 classes are displayed at a time.

Remember to hit “Submit” and make sure you have a green check mark in each section.

If you get an error message at the end, you need to go back and fix the error and then resubmit.

Course requests are not guaranteed due to class size limitations

MMS Investigates: In MMS Investigates the course will cover how we interact with online material including music, video games, sports and superheroes. We do this by exploring the complicated world of copyrights and how those laws impact how we interact with much of the material that we enjoy. In the latter half of the course we explore the area of digital citizenship where students will be given the skills and tools to identify fake news, reliable news and the proper ways to follow breaking news events
