Dear MMS Community,
Today, Giving Tuesday, is the first day of our Community Matching Gift Challenge! Now through December 31, every dollar donated to our Annual Appeal fundraising campaign will be matched by an anonymous donor, up to $20,000.
In partnership with teachers, staff, parents and caregivers, the HSA promotes the education, safety, and welfare of MMS students and of our community. Your gift will fund enrichment programs, social and educational events, and help provide our students with the support they need to achieve academic success and healthy development.
To meet our goals in the 2022-2023 school year, the HSA must raise $85 per student. Right now, you have a chance to double the impact of your donation. All gifts made through December 31, up to $20,000, will be matched by an anonymous donor.

SOMA Shares Coat Drive
SOMA Shares is collecting freshly laundered, gently used baby to teen-styled/sized winter coats, snow boots and snow pants. We will also collect new hats and gloves. Drop off at 6 Oberlin Street in Maplewood now until December 17.

SOMSD Parenting Center Toy Drive
The SOMSD’s Parenting Center Annual Holiday Toy Drive is underway! This year, we are once again counting on you to help us bring the spirit of the holidays to those in need in our community. The easiest and safest way to contribute is by donating in one of the following ways:
- On-line tax-deductive contribution to https://gofund.me/6d48284e (or search SOMSD Annual Holiday Toy Drive on gofundme.com)
- Drop off a new toy in a toy drop-off bin at any one of our District elementary schools from NOW - December 16 (only new toys)
- Mail a check payable to SOMSD Parenting Center 525 Academy Street, Maplewood, NJ 07040
- Buy one, donate one at local stores Spark House, Paper Hat, Toy Division and Words.

Toy donation drop-offs are being accepted from NOW - December 16 at drop-off toy bins at all District elementary schools. We are requesting only new toy purchase donations (please no gift wrapping).
Money raised will be used to purchase from local stores that could use our support, and as always, 100% of the money donated will be used to buy gifts. Your continued generosity will help to ensure that all our SOMA families feel the joy of the holiday season.

Save the Date, the 6th Grade Social is Friday, November 18 from 2:45-4:30pm in the gym and cafeteria. The theme is Your Favorite Decade and students are encouraged to dress is the style of their favorite decade (including now).

The First Annual MMS Walk-a-thon was a HUGE SUCCESS! THANK YOU to our MMS Community for EXCEEDING our initial goal and raising $20,000. Students walked, ran, skipped, hopped and danced to student-selected tunes (check out the playlist) while raising money and HAVING FUN!
