Cell Phone Use During School Hours
Students are reminded of the following message daily during morning announcements and on the Canvas page:
- Please be reminded that personal/non school-issued devices are not permitted and must remain stored in your locker all day along with headphones/wireless headphones and backpacks. Period 1 teachers please take a moment now to be sure these items are stored appropriately by all students.
MMS parents and caregivers, we ask that you reinforce this message at home by not communicating with your child during the day using a device that must be stored in the locker. If your time permits, we encourage you to monitor your child's phone to be sure you don't see phone activity during school hours between 8:20-3:14pm!
Help MMS Teachers Restock!
It's that time of year again, when classrooms are running low on supplies. Please help MMS teachers restock their classrooms by sending in any (or all) of the supplies below. Students can bring supplies to their 1st period classroom where teachers will collect and distribute as needed!
- Tissues
- Sanitizing Wipes
- Pencils
- Pens
- Dry Erase Markers
- Lined Paper
MMS Oratory Contest 2023 - Extended Dates
Our 3rd Annual Black History Month Oratory Contest entry dates have been extended to accommodate a busy extra curricular season for MMS students! Prizes are sponsored by the MMS Home and School Association!

On Thursday, March 2nd alumna Andrea Osei will be at MMS to talk about her career in fashion! She has been recognized by BRIDES publication, Teen Vogue, BET, American Express 100 for 100 and Malvie Magazine among others. Annual PeloFUND Ride 2/12
Are you ready? The Annual MMS PeloFUNd Ride is February 12, 2023. Join us SuperBowl Sunday for this virtual race/ride anytime from 7am - 2pm.
Use your Peloton bike, Peloton App or bike, run, or walk outside. Complete the Google Registration Form and submit the $25 suggested registration fee. Additional fundraising $ per mile is encouraged and appreciated. Peloton class list will be posted a couple days prior to the event.

SEPAC January Meeting Recording Now Available
At our “Middle School & Mental Health” meeting on January 9th, a panel of SOMSD experts joined us to take a close look at how anxiety presents in the tween/early teen years, how parents and caregivers can support their child at home, and how to tap into support at our SOMSD middle schools, including the SOMS Social Work Intern Program; The Hub @ MMS; and ISTEP, a therapeutic counseling program at both middle schools.
